Let's get this out of the way: we know that we're not the most objective source out there, given that we're a North Palm Hyundai dealer. Now that we've been up front about this, we can talk about the design differences between Hyundai vs. Subaru. We believe that Hyundai has some of the best-looking vehicles on the road today and has a huge advantage over the Subaru models. It's our opinion that Subaru can look a bit outdated, which might be for some people, but it's not for us. Consider the Santa Fe vs. the Outback. The Santa Fe has pushed the limits of design and created something that truly stands out, whereas the Outback looks like it could have come out 10 years ago. We don't want to discount that there is plenty of utility to the tried and true Subaru designs, but if you're looking for something unique, then Hyundai is your brand.

The differences of interiors for Hyundai vs. Subaru come down more to preference than anything. Hyundai interiors are more tech-forward and are a little more modern in their styling. Subaru still provides high quality interiors with good standard tech as well. Subaru does offer leather seating and quality at some lower trim levels, which could be a plus depending on which trim you're interested in. On the other hand, Hyundai has better infotainment screens for their lower trim levels. For higher trim levels, most of the features offered are going to be fairly similar. Hyundai vs. Subaru | Performance

Depending on what aspect of performance you're looking for the most, Hyundai and Subaru can both be great options. Subaru's gas engines do tend to get better gas mileage than their Hyundai counterparts, but Subaru doesn't have anywhere near as many hybrid and electric options. Hyundai models tend to have more horsepower and torque than Subaru models, although both manufacturers offer plenty of oomph in their engines. Subaru is known for the reliability of their engines, although Hyundai rates well in this aspect as well. Subaru does offer sports performance models in the WRX and BRZ, and while Hyundai has the Elantra N, the Subaru models may be more in line with what you expect from a traditional sports model. Overall, the performance of Hyundai vs. Subaru comes down to preferences more than either brand being better than the other.

Subaru or Hyundai sedans-which is better?

If you're looking for a standard compact or midsize sedan, Hyundai and Subaru are fairly evenly matched. The base model Elantra and Impreza offer many of the same benefits, although there are some key factors that might help you decide. The same thing could be said for the base Sonata and Legacy. Things start to take a turn if you have specific needs in mind. Subaru does have two models specifically dedicated to being performance models: the BRZ and the WRX. While Hyundai doesn't have a unique performance model, the Elantra N is a performance version of the Elantra that offers similar benefits. Beyond that, a key difference between Hyundai and Subaru is that Hyundai offers hybrids for both their sedans, while Subaru does not. Hyundai also offers an all-electric sedan as the Ioniq 6. Overall, Hyundai and Subaru are fairly evenly matched for standard sedans, but the unique offerings from both brands may be a deciding factor on which model is best for you.

Subaru or Hyundai SUVs-which is better?

If you've been doing research on Hyundai models, you will see that they are consistently some of the highest-rated models in each SUV category. Subaru makes some quality SUVs as well, but the general consensus is that Hyundai does it better. One key element that makes Hyundai so desirable is their ability to maximize interior passenger and cargo space. You want the best bang for your buck, and Hyundai provides the most space. Subaru does do a good job of creating some fuel-efficient standard gas engines, so they do have a slight advantage in that category. On the flip side, Hyundai offers a hybrid or EV version of all of their SUV models. They also include plenty of advanced tech and offer larger standard infotainment screens in most of their SUV offerings. Subaru is probably the better-known brand for off-road performance, and they do have some solid SUVs for that. Hyundai has XRT trims that provide off-road performance, but the Subaru may be a touch better at that. Overall, the quality of Hyundai SUVs will be too much to pass, especially at a generally lower price tag.

While Subaru does plan to roll out additional electric vehicles, as of writing this article, they only have a compact SUV EV. Hyundai, on the other hand, has 4 total full EVs, including a 3-row, 8-seat model, the Ioniq 9.
